Congratulations JMHS Winter Guards!

Congratulations to the JMHS Winter Guards for their performances at the WGI Regional in Norfolk Virginia.

The Varsity Guard was the 5th place finalist and the J-Varsoty Guard also performed in the finals and was the top guard in their class.

James Madison High School Color Guards place at Atlantic Indoor Association Competition

(March 1, 2015) The James Madison High School (JMHS) Varsity Color Guard placed first in their class at the Congratulations to the JMHS Winter Guard Program!  At the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA) competition held at South County Secondary School on February 28th the Varsity squad’s performance “Black Widow Awakening” won with a score of 70.5, more than 4 points higher than second place.

At the same competition, the JMHS Junior Varsity Guard, with their show “Peace, Love, and Colorguard” placed second in their class.

According to the World Guard International, Color Guard is a sport of the Arts, due to the fact that the it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. Color Guard members must excel in dance and body movement and possess physical agility and athleticism in order to toss flags, rifles and sabers while performing a dance routine to music.
