Things to remember…
- Arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to performance time.Check-in at the registration desk as you enter in Door #1 (front doors). Then head to the gym to unpack and warm-up. Please stay next to the sign with your performance room number on it. Your runner will come and get you approximately 5 minutes before your assigned performance time, so be sure to be in place by then. There will not be any stands or pianos available in the warm-up room, so please plan accordingly. If there are any issues or problems in the warm-up room, please see the HMS adult volunteer in the warm-up room.
- You must provide an original (NOT a photocopy)of the music you are performing for the judge. You may play from a photocopy. Measures need to be numbered.Failure to have an original numbered copy of your music will result in no score being awarded; you will receive only comments for your performance.
- 7th-12thgrade students performing solos that have accompaniment parts need to perform with a pianist or a recording. You must bring your own equipment to play your recording; there will not be any available to use. Failure to perform with the accompaniment will result no score being awarded; you will receive only comments for your performance. 4th- 6thgraders do NOT need an accompaniment.
- Dress nicely - no shorts/jeans/athletic clothing. One of the grades that you receive from the judge is on your appearance - an easy “A” if you dress well.
- Scores will be posted after your performance in the Cafeteria. It may take some time to post, so plan to wait if you can. Concessions will be available for purchase while you wait. Judges’ comment sheets will be sent to your orchestra director after the festival.
Have fun and good luck!
